Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice!Reflect:
A great reminder as this new season starts. We all know that this pandemic has changed so much in our lives. In the last two years, we went through ups and downs adopting this “new normal”. And this is our second time celebrating the birth of our savior—Jesus with the pandemic. This kind of season made us realize how it affected us, yet despite those changes, the spirit of Christmas is still felt by our hearts. Look how colorful the houses are at night! Children are rejoicing and are excited for Christmas in spite of the situation. Going back to the scripture, the Lord wants to remind each one of us to rejoice in Him. To rejoice not with the things happening around us, nor with the things we received from someone—rejoice in the Lord, always! To rejoice not just for today nor for tomorrow—rejoice in the Lord, always!
In Mark 10:15 Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” Like a child who is so excited to turn the lights on, run towards the Christmas tree and open the gift for him/her, let us all be excited to open our hearts, run towards the Father and receive the gift that He has for us as we go on this new journey. Having a heart that: “I will rejoice in You, Lord, whether I am having a good or bad day!” is indeed what we all desire. I believe it is the perfect time for us to look back and realize—how those good and bad things turned into greatness—and step out to embrace the new season with a joyful heart.
Respond:
As we celebrate the most awaited season of the year, especially by our beloved children, may we desire to have a heart like theirs, a heart that is so grateful even in little things, and a heart that is full of joy and hunger for more.
Family and friends, let us all rejoice like a child.
