Proverbs 1: 8-9 NASB.
“Hear, my son, your father’s instruction And do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head And ornaments about your neck.”
Reflect:
Our children are blessings from the Lord; they are gifts from above. They are important not just to us but also to society for they are our future. This is why we all take part in raising them well together. It’s a shared responsibility; not just parents, it includes teachers who are an impactful inspiration to our children, spiritual parents who bring guidance, and those who are raising children that aren’t biologically their own. Being a parent is an identity to embrace and not just a title to take, we wear that identity always. We all have the same FATHER and we belong to the same family so we take care of each other.
In this present generation, parenting children could feel like walking on eggshells. We overthink where we should stand and how our approach should be. How are we supposed to raise them, Lord? We lead them to the Bible.
We raise our children with the guidance of the Bible and by being living proofs of God’s presence, our life being examples to them. There is no perfect strategy or formula to perfect parenting because each child is unique. It’s always a constant day to day thing: “We will figure it out together as you find your identity, while I find mine too in this process”. It’s teamwork between us and with God being the center of it. We soak them in the Bible and in the faith so they will never depart from it. When we become examples to them, they see the identity of God by WHO WE ARE TO THEM – one who loves them without conditions, without judgment, and without limitations.
Respond:
Friends in the faith, how’s your heart? Are you being a parent not just to your family, but also to others? We bring the Bible to them and we lead them to God. Love every child, may they be ours or of others. We all belong to one family.
