Psalm 25: 4-14 (NASB)
4 Make me know Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O Lord,
Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
For Your goodness sake, O Lord.
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in justice,
And He teaches the humble His way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and truth
To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Your name’s sake, O Lord,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
13 His soul will abide in prosperity,
And his descendants will inherit the land.
14 The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
And He will make them know His covenant.
Reflect:
Throughout our walk as believers, God reveals Himself to us in many different ways. He makes Himself known as Savior. He shows us that He is a Good Father. He also communicates as a Comforter and Friend. It is no wonder that God has numerous names in the Bible like Adonai (My Great Lord), Jehovah-Rapha (The Lord Who Heals), and Jehovah-Jireh (The Lord Who Provides) to name a few.
In Psalm 25, we see that God is also our Teacher. He is our best Guide, especially in the way by which we should live our lives. Reading verses 4 to 10, we note that all we need are teachability and humility. We acknowledge that we are sinners but God is good and faithful to show us how to move forward. And in verse 14, we are told that God even shows His secrets and covenant to those who fear Him.
We encounter different teachers in our lives. We have teachers who teach formal classes and we have those who impart to us what they know about life, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Yet God is our greatest Teacher. It is good to be always reminded of this so that we will also realize that He continues to teach us through our trials, triumphs, and even through our daily situations.
May we always have hearts ready to hear and heed His instructions and may we always be aware of the ways He teaches us in our everyday lives.
Respond:
Have you known God as your Teacher? If yes, what are the things He has been teaching you these days? If you do not yet know Him as a Teacher, ask Him to make His ways known to you and for Him to teach you His paths. Good and upright as He is, He will surely teach you the way.
