Proverbs 31: 10-31 (NASB)
An excellent wife, who can find her?
For her worth is far above jewels.
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She looks for wool and linen,
And works with her hands in delight.
She is like merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
And she rises while it is still night
And gives food to her household,
And portions to her attendants.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She surrounds her waist with strength
And makes her arms strong.
She senses that her profit is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
She makes coverings for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She watches over the activities of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
“Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all.”
Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
Reflect:
Proverbs 31:10-31 speak of a beautiful reflection on Women and Mothers. It’s like a virtual post-it on our foreheads, an encouragement, and a constant reminder of the heart of Women and the heart of Mothers evident in the Bible. These verses highly speak of the Characters women are gifted and blessed with. Women in the past, present, and future, the Word of the Lord remains true for all generations.
These verses talk about Integrity, Reliability, and Trustworthiness. Soak in each verse. Women hold up the pillars of the home, the strength holding the family together, keepers of family, the arms of warmest hugs, the touch of comfort, the same hands that discipline yet ironically, the same hands that heal. She is the light of the home who binds and keeps everyone’s path straight. She speaks with Wisdom, oversees the home, always so full of love, of energy, that out of her fullness, it overflows. She is supportive of her husband, always aware of the needs of each member, be physical, emotional, social. She is clothed in love, more than any expensive jewelry or charms, more precious than gems, more valuable than gold, beyond comparison. She encourages, inspires, motivates, and sets an example. Why is she who she is? What is her Secret Super Serum? It is her true identity, the identity that is plugged to the source, a reflection of the Love of the Father that overflows and radiates to everything she does. She is fully immersed in the fullness of His Love, that even after a full packed busy day yesterday, she sleeps in love, wakes up today refreshed, recharged, and at the start of the new day, she declares, “My Cup runneth over.”
Respond:
Friends, as we celebrate Mothers and Women in the Bible this month, may we fill our hearts with gratitude, love, and appreciation. As the Lord teaches us to LOVE, we show love to the one who first loved us in the physical world, the one who carried us in their womb.
