Matthew 11:29,30

29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Reflect:

Even before 2022 came, we already have a lot of expectations and responsibilities filling our minds. Especially in this pandemic, where everything continues to shift and turn compared to our stable lifestyles years ago.

Our families can sometimes put expectations on us, and most of the time, we put such expectations and requirements on ourselves. Especially during this January, when resolutions and goals are being made.

Without the support and rest, it is likely that our mental and emotional state will start to crumble along the way. At first, we will be stressed with all the details. Then, we panic whenever we reach critical situations and then get discouraged. Eventually, we will fall apart.

But we are never required to handle all of these ourselves. Jesus encourages us to take His yoke and learn; to lean on Him and seek comfort and rest in His presence.

He wants us to learn that His gentleness will never cease and that He can be relied on. He also wants us to be humble just like how He is humble. It is prideful to think that we can handle our problems by ourselves, you know?

As a father, He cares deeply and intimately about you, even for your mental state. Yes, He has wonderful and big plans for you. But He also cares about you and is willing to share the problems you have in mind.

So, whenever you are frustrated or anxious because life is giving you the shorter end of the stick, always remember to seek Him and His guidance in the secret place. When the time comes for you to step back up to the battlefield, make Him your partner in your game plan. Surely, it will give your soul rest.

Respond:

How are you this season? Do you have any problems or frustrations? Have you sought Jesus about these problems and frustrations? Why do you think it is always helpful to be humble to Him when it comes to your problems?

Shekinah lives in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. As a Junior High School student, she spreads God's love using media and written content. What draws her to the Word of God is His wisdom that can be used in our daily lives, especially those written in the Books of Psalm, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. She helps in the ministry in small but love-filled ways such as being a member of their church's media team, preparing food and coffee during meetings, and making journals and decorated devotions. Outside the church, she dedicates here hands and heart to bring fglory to God through her original novels and stories.
